Relocation Reimbursement Assistance Program

Helping Individuals and Families With the Financial Burden of Relocation

Moving can create a significant financial burden, especially for individuals and families already experiencing hardship, housing instability, employment changes, recovery-related transitions, unexpected life circumstances, or other financial challenges.

His Vessel Ministry Inc. offers a Relocation Reimbursement Assistance Program designed to provide qualifying individuals and families with up to $1,500 in financial assistance toward the cost of a completed move.

Assistance is based on demonstrated need, individual circumstances, available ministry resources, and the documentation provided with the application.

This is not a sweepstakes, raffle, or random drawing. Applications are reviewed based upon charitable and financial considerations consistent with the mission of His Vessel Ministry.

How the Program Works

Applicants must have completed their move and paid their moving expenses before reimbursement assistance is issued.

Applicants may be asked to provide:

A final moving invoice or bill showing the actual cost of the move.
Proof that the applicant personally paid the moving company.
Documentation showing that the move was completed.
Information regarding the moving company that performed the move.
Information regarding financial hardship or other circumstances supporting the request for assistance.
Any additional documentation reasonably necessary for His Vessel Ministry to evaluate the application.

After the required information has been received, His Vessel Ministry reviews the application and determines whether the applicant qualifies for assistance.

Approved applicants may receive up to $1,500 in relocation reimbursement assistance, subject to available ministry resources and the applicant's actual documented moving expenses.

How Applications Are Evaluated

His Vessel Ministry considers the overall circumstances of each applicant. No single factor necessarily guarantees approval.

Factors that may be considered include:

Financial Need

The Ministry considers the applicant's financial circumstances and how significantly relocation expenses have affected the individual or household. (Verifying true costs versus national averages)

Consideration may be given to whether reimbursement of up to $1,500 would provide meaningful financial relief.

Reason for Relocation

The circumstances surrounding the move may be considered, including situations involving:

Financial hardship
Military, Disability, Senior, Fixed Income, Essential Workers, etc.
Employment changes or job loss
Housing instability
Family circumstances
Recovery-related transitions
Displacement
Emergency situations
Unexpected life changes
Other circumstances creating a legitimate need for assistance.

The Ministry considers the documented cost of the applicant's move and the percentage of that expense that the requested assistance would reimburse.

Relocation assistance will not exceed the applicant's verified eligible moving expenses.

Documentation

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that an actual move occurred.

This may include a final invoice, bill of lading, proof of payment, receipt, completed moving contract, or other documentation reasonably requested by the Ministry.

Use of a Reputable Moving Provider

Protecting individuals and families from fraudulent, unlicensed, unsafe, or unreliable moving providers is an important part of responsible relocation assistance.

Applicants are therefore expected to have used a legitimate and appropriately qualified moving company.

A moving company holding a current Certified Safe Mover designation from Certified Safe Movers Association (CSMA) may satisfy the Ministry's reputable-mover verification requirement because the company has already undergone CSMA's established screening process.

Applicants are not required to use a CSMA-certified moving company in order to be considered for assistance.

If an applicant used a moving company that is not currently certified by CSMA, the moving company may be submitted for an equivalent review to determine whether it meets the Ministry's reasonable standards for legitimacy, licensing, insurance, operating authority, consumer protection, and professional conduct.

Choosing a non-CSMA mover does not automatically disqualify an applicant from the program.

Special Circumstances

The Ministry may also consider circumstances that create additional financial or personal hardship, including:

Households with dependent children
Elderly individuals or family members
Individuals or families experiencing housing instability
Unexpected moving expenses
Emergency relocation
Recovery-related transitions
Significant changes in employment or income
Other unusual circumstances creating financial hardship

Each application is evaluated individually.

Previous Assistance

The Ministry may consider whether an applicant has previously received financial assistance through His Vessel Ministry.

Priority may be given to first-time applicants when available resources are limited so that the Ministry can assist as many individuals and families as reasonably possible.

Application Review

Applications are reviewed periodically based upon available ministry funds.

When available resources do not permit assistance to every qualifying applicant, His Vessel Ministry may prioritize applicants based upon:

Demonstrated financial need
Severity of hardship
Circumstances surrounding the relocation
Actual documented moving expenses
Special household circumstances
Previous assistance received
Completeness of supporting documentation
Other factors reasonably related to the Ministry's charitable purposes

Recipients are selected based upon these considerations and are not chosen randomly.

Submitting an application does not guarantee assistance.

Amount of Assistance

Qualified applicants may receive up to $1,500 in relocation reimbursement assistance.

The amount awarded may be less than $1,500 depending upon:

The applicant's documented moving expenses
The applicant's circumstances
Available Ministry resources
The number and needs of other applicants
Other relevant charitable considerations

No reimbursement will exceed the applicant's verified eligible moving expense.

When Assistance Is Paid

Relocation reimbursement assistance is generally issued after the move has been completed and after the applicant has paid the moving company from the applicant's own funds.

The applicant must provide satisfactory documentation establishing that:

The move occurred.
The moving services were completed.
The applicant was responsible for the moving expense.
The applicant paid the moving company.
The moving provider satisfies the Ministry's reputable-provider requirements.

Once an application has been reviewed and approved, assistance is disbursed directly to the qualifying applicant, not to the moving company.

Certified Safe Movers and Moving Resources

His Vessel Ministry encourages consumers to carefully investigate any moving company before entering into a contract.

As a resource for individuals seeking reputable moving providers, applicants may review companies that have received the Certified Safe Mover designation from Certified Safe Movers Association (CSMA).

CSMA-certified companies have undergone a screening process intended to evaluate matters such as operating authority, business history, consumer complaints, transparency, professional practices, and other consumer-protection considerations.

Using a CSMA-certified mover can simplify the Ministry's mover-verification process.

However, His Vessel Ministry does not require applicants to use a CSMA-certified mover.

Applicants who select another moving company may still qualify for assistance if the provider can successfully complete an equivalent review.

Support From the Moving Community

His Vessel Ministry may receive charitable support from businesses, individuals, organizations, and members of the moving industry that support the Ministry's mission.

Supporting companies may be recognized publicly as donors, sponsors, or ministry supporters.

A moving company's donation to His Vessel Ministry does not determine whether an applicant receives assistance and does not guarantee that the company will receive business from Ministry applicants or beneficiaries.

Relocation-assistance decisions are based upon the circumstances of the individual or family requesting assistance and the charitable purposes of His Vessel Ministry.

The purpose of the Relocation Reimbursement Assistance Program is simple:

To provide meaningful financial relief to qualifying individuals and families who have experienced the financial burden of relocation while encouraging safe, transparent, and responsible moving practices.

His Vessel Ministry believes that people facing difficult transitions should have access not only to financial assistance, but also to resources that can help them make informed and safer decisions during the moving process.

Food assistance
Clothing resources
Housing resources
Temporary housing information
Recovery and sober-living resources
Employment resources
Transportation assistance
Community support organizations
Other charitable and humanitarian resources

His Vessel Ministry does not guarantee the availability of third-party resources and does not control independent organizations to which an individual may be referred.

Important Program Information

Relocation assistance is subject to available Ministry resources and program eligibility requirements.

Submission of an application does not create an entitlement to assistance or guarantee reimbursement.

His Vessel Ministry reserves the right to request additional documentation, verify information submitted by an applicant, determine eligibility, establish reasonable program requirements, and approve or decline assistance consistent with its charitable mission and available resources.

Program requirements and available assistance may be modified as necessary to responsibly administer the Ministry's charitable programs.
